After completing his legal training with HP&B Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1975 and was appointed a partner in 1979.

Martin has a wealth of experience in many different areas of legal practice, and specialises in will drafting, inheritance tax planning and probate, and also commercial and residential property transactions including landlord & tenant. He is past President of the Dewsbury & District Law Society and is Hon. Solicitor to the Dewsbury Chamber of Trade.

Martin is married to Susan, who is head of the HP&B Family Law Department, and they have one son.

In his leisure time, Martin is a keen member and supporter of many charitable organisations in the area, and also enjoys cross-country running, fell walking and classic cars.
